It's likely safe to say there hasn't been a time like this in our lifetimes. Many months into the pandemic, and there is still so much uncertainty. It is appropriate and "normal" to feel anxious, afraid, sad, angry and overwhelmed. Know that you are not alone, and know that there are many ways to support yourself.
Life's regular challenges of relationship concerns, parenting, job issues, grief, and life transitions continue, and are complicated by the pandemic. Existing mental health issues may be magnified by COVID-19. If you need support during this time, please reach out. You're not alone.

That can include breathing exercises, movement that makes us connect with our bodies, and anything that makes us remember that we are here, that we are safe, right now, in this space. Warm baths, quiet reading time, healthy meals, a walk through the forest; all these can help you ground and move out of the spinning mind. Many are feeling extra fatigue during this time. Rest as often and well as you can. And through it all, try to be as kind and compassionate to yourself as possible.

Establishing a routine can help soothe the nervous system. Try to wake and go to bed at the same time each day. Explore what it's like to start your day with a ritual or routine that you enjoy, such as journalling, yoga or meditation, or a walk outdoors. Try to eat nourishing food at similar times each day. Maintaining routines throughout your day can help you feel productive and engaged. Schedule in times for rest and for connection with others in the ways you are able. And know, things may feel much harder right now, that's to be expected. Try to lower your demands on yourself and be extra kind.

Of course take care of your body, and only do what your body is capable of. This is not about pushing yourself harder and striving for fitness goals. We need to be kinder and gentler with ourselves right now. AND, it's important to move to reset our nervous systems when they're vibrating with stress.
